PICKS OF THE DAY

-

After the fireworks of last week’s ‘celebratory’ episodes to mark 35 years of East End drama, Chantelle is shocked to learn Leo is dead and Whitney (Shona McGarty, left) has been arrested. Talk about a bolt out of the blue for poor Chantelle. Elsewhere on Albert Square, Tiffany is concerned after speaking to Whitney and asks Gray to defend her case. Despite his reservations, Gray agrees to help. Jean grows frustrated as Daniel is blasé about his situation.

Film: Rogue One, ITV2, 7.20pm

When offering a preview to a Star Wars film it is best to make sure you know where it stands in time. Rogue One is a prequel set before the events of A New Hope. In terms of the plot, Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones, above) – the maverick daughter of scientist Galen Erso – joins the Rebel Alliance. They attempt to steal plans for the Death Star but face tough competition froma number of shadowy forces.

Comedy: Inside No.9, BBC2, 10pm

You have to tip your cap to Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith (both left). The pair, who met at Bretton Hall College in Yorkshire in their late teens, really produced some superb, if a little off-beat, television since the glory days of League of Gentlemen. Inside No.9 is gloriously dark and showcases the slightly warped mind of the duo. Tonight, student journalist Gabriel is determined to interview world-famous magician Neville Griffin, who is renowned for being extremely protective of his secrets and believes stealing a magic trick is a crime worse than murder. But how would he know that, exactly? Jill Halfpenny and Fionn Whitehead guest star.

Thriller: Baghdad Central, C4, 10pm

Parodi (Corey Stoll, above) leads a raid on an Iraqi home as he searches for the key to the attack on the Green Zone and finds a photograph of Candy, Zahra and an as-yet unknown third female. Discovering that his money is missing, Temple concocts trumped up accusations of war crimes against Khafaji to have him arrested. Co-starring Waleed Zuaiter, Bertie Carvel, and Neil Maskell.

Finances: The Martin Lewis Money Show, ITV, 8pm

There will be a lack of money-saving tips on a Monday night after tonight as finance expert Martin Lewis wraps up the current series this evening. Last year, one in every 20 people was a victim of fraud – with scammers stealing millions from the British public doing it increasingly via the internet. Lewis (right) and Angellica Bell look at potential solutions for people who have been caught out and the need for greater online controls.
