Lineker’s lads pitch up for 5 a side swig

GARY Lineker shows off his favourite squad as he has a drink with his four sons.

The Match Of The Day pundit, 59, captioned the snap “The Boys” when he shared it on Instagram.

Ian Wright, who like Gary also played for England, teased his former teammate by writing: “More ears.”

MOTD star Danny Murphy quipped: “There may be trouble ahead.”

The lads – George, 28, Harry, 26, Tobias, 24, and Angus, 22, all from Gary’s first marriage – appeared to be on water while their dad sipped wine at the get together in a restaurant at Barnes, south west London.

THE partner of a retired lecturer who was assassinated by a crossbow maniac has called on the killer to reveal why he did it.

Martial arts expert Terence Whall, 39, was yesterday found guilty of murdering Gerald Corrigan, 74, as he tried to fix his satellite dish.

A four-week trial heard the motive remains a mystery but it may be linked to a property fraud.

After the case at Mold Crown Court, North Wales, Mr Corrigan’s partner Marie Bailey, 64, said: “Gerry meant the world to me. Each day my heart is broken. I feel it breaking again and I can do nothing. Our lives are somehow empty without him.

“To that sad, twisted broken soul who murdered him, I say if you have an ounce of humanity, then tell us why you have done this.”

Mr Corrigan’s daughter Fiona added: “The injuries caused by a crossbow are not designed just to kill, they are designed to mutilate.

“The particular weapon is designed to bring down big game and that is what my dad became – prey.We may never know why.

“He was such a good man, an average bloke enjoying retirement.”

A jury heard howWhall tampered with Mr Corrigan’s satellite dish in the early hours of Good Friday last year near South Stack, Anglesey, North Wales.

He lay in wait while his victim went to fix it then shot him using an arrow designed to make animals bleed to death quickly.

Whall, a twice-married tai chi instructor from east London, denied ever meeting Mr Corrigan, died in hospital on May 11.

But he was caught because GPS technology in his Land Rover Discovery placed him at the scene.

The vehicle was later torched but Whall did not realise the data was automatically downloaded.

When GPS revealed his movements, he claimed he was in the area to have sex with a male friend – who denied his story.

The only clue to a motive lay in a complicated link to a local farmer called Richard Wyn Lewis – a conwho victed fraudster and cannabis grower who is being investigated for allegedly swindling Mr Corrigan.

The court heard Mr Corrigan and his partner handed him £250,000 in more than 20 instalments for a land deal, work to a house and a horse.

But, in the weeks leading up to the shooting, Mr Corrigan told Mr Wyn Lewis they had no money left and “the well had run dry”.

Mr Corrigan also allowed MrWyn Lewis to use an outbuilding to grow cannabis so it could be used to ease Ms Bailey’s multiple sclerosis. But the two men rowed when Mr Corrigan discovered the crop was far larger than he suspected and he ordered MrWyn Lewis to stop.

The court heard Whall and codefendant Gavin Jones, 36 – who helped burn Whall’s car – were also in a dispute with MrWyn Lewis.

Prosecutor Peter Rouch said Whall was “sneaking around” Mr Wyn Lewis’ house, placing trackers on his car, weeks after the murder.

“They wanted money from Wyn Lewis, a man who had conned Mr Corrigan and Miss Bailey out of a large sum of money. Who really know what the issues were between Whall, Jones and Wyn Lewis?”

Det Chief Insp Brian Kearney said Mr Corrigan was “entirely innocent” but may have been a “source of grief to local criminality”.

Gavin Jones, 36, was convicted of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice by plotting to set fire to Whall’s Land Rover.

His brother Darren, 41, and friend Martin Roberts, 34, admitted arson. All three will be sentenced with Whall on Friday.
