JOSH CHARNLEY admits Warrington’s players were left “embarrassed” by their performance at Leeds seven days ago, as they aim to bounce back against Castleford tonight.

They were thrashed 36-0 at Headingley – and Charnley conceded it was not good enough.

“We were embarrassed,” he said. “When we watched it back we couldn’t believe what we’d dished up.

“We need to stop the doubters writing us off.

“This is a new game, a new week and we’re focused on doing the job in the 80 minutes.

“Cas have some exciting players so it’s going to be tough, but we’ll go for it on Friday.”

LUKE GALE pulled all the right strings to make it a miserable Headingley return for former Leeds boss Brian McDermott.

Gale, half-back partner Rob Lui, full-back Richie Myler and hooker Brad Dwyer found gaps in the woeful Wolfpack defence at will.

All four were tryscorers, with Gale and Lui finishing with doubles as Leeds moved top of the Super League table.

Toronto trailed 36-6 at the break. It started when Dwyer plunged over under the posts.

The next try earned gasps around Headingley when it was replayed on the big screen as Gale provided a sublime flick pass for Myler to finish.

The Wolfpack briefly responded through Josh McCrone but the visitors conceded four more tries

RACINGTV before the break. Dwyer’s inside ball allowed Gale to stride under the posts then Lui strolled through.

Lui had a double from Harry Newman’s pass shortly after and the young centre made it a brace of assists when he sent Ash Handley over.

Jack Wells’ try after the break hinted at resistance but forwards Cameron Smith, Mikolaj Oledzki and Adam Cuthbertson were too strong from close range and Gale and Konrad Hurrell also crossed. Rhyse Martin converted all 11 tries.

DILLIAN WHYTE says he has asked theWBC to block any superfight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

Whyte has been the WBC’s No1 challenger for three years and is sick of waiting for his world title shot.

He claims he should fight the winner of WBC champ Fury’s third fight with Deontay Wilder in July instead of the victor facing Joshua for the who won here in 2018. “Tiger killed the par fives. I am trying to follow that plan as it worked pretty well.” The highlight was the eagle at the fourth as the world No1 crunched a three-iron 260 yards from the sand and then sank his putt for a three.

“My caddie Harry Diamond said that’s the best shot I’ve hit all year,” added McIlroy. undisputed title this December.

Whyte, 31, who defends his WBC interim crown against Alexander Povetkin on May 2, said: “There should be no undisputed fight ahead of me.”
