‘Our £325k dream home is a death trap with 200 faults’
A COUPLE’S £325,000 dream home has 200 faults and feels like a “death trap”, they say.
Nasser Malik, 44, says the flooring is uneven, walls are damp, doors don’t close and their back garden is a “bog”.
His wife got an electric shock from a plug socket the day they moved in.
He shares the five bedroom house with Zoe, 37, and their two children aged seven and eight.
The IT manager said: “This was our dream home but when we moved in it was a complete mess, everything was wrong. The whole place feels like it has been rushed to be finished and the level of workmanship is shoddy.
“After nearly nine months in the property things have become unbearable, the

place is a death trap.” He decided to speak out after he injured his ankle falling down a hole in the garden covered with a paving slab.
He and Zoe had complaints about their home in Darwen, Lancs, even before getting the keys last July, spotting the wrong roof tiles and rendered walls not specified – or wanted.
Nightmare
House builder Kier offered them a hot tub and summer house by way of apology.
But the problems kept “piling up” after they moved in and now Nasser reckons there have been more than 200 faults, some of which have been fixed by Kier but others still to be looked at. He said: “Dealing with Kier has been a nightmare. It took eight weeks to fit a handle.”
He says Kier has given him and Zoe £8,000 as a “goodwill gesture”. He said: “On paper everything about the house is great… If only it was built properly.”
A Kier spokesperson said: “We aim to deliver quality homes for all customers and on this occasion, we have fallen short of our usual high standards. As a responsible house builder, we pride ourselves on offering excellent customer service and since Mr and Mrs Malik purchased their home, we have liaised with them extensively, listened and acted on all their concerns and we will continue to do so.”
