Film: X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Film4, 9pm

Telling us more about the backstory of Logan (Hugh Jackman, above), the Wolverine spin-off series began here. However, when the woman he loves is murdered by his psychotic brother, Logan returns to his old enemies for help in seeking revenge.

Drama: The Split, BBC1, 9pm

So many questions to be answered in just one, series-ending episode this evening. Hannah reveals to Ruth that Nathan has left her, while Fi is furious when Richie fails to show up to take the children to school as agreed. After Nina encourages Zander to sort things out with Tyler, telling them what he’s done is not irredeemable, the two of them agree to go ahead with their plan of having their stag night that evening. You have to take your hat off to writer Abi Morgan for a superb second series that more than kept pace with the first, while her words have been superbly brought to life by the performances of the likes of Nicola Walker and Annabel Scholey (both left) among others.

Gardening: Love Your Garden, ITV, 8pm

Ten series in and the deserving people are still in plentiful supply when it comes to getting a garden makeover from Alan Titchmarsh and the team. A group of ladies in Thornton Heath (above, with Alan) see an urban wasteland turned into a welcoming oasis of swaying grasses and pretty daisy flowers. The experts share tips on how to achieve the look of a miniature prairie even in a tiny space. Last in series.
