Queen leaving early for Windsor
THE Queen is to leave London to base herself at Windsor Castle with a reduced household as she follows Government guidance on the coronavirus pandemic.
Buckingham Palace announced that the 93-year-old will leave for the Berkshire royal residence tomorrow.
The move comes a week earlier than usual and is the monarch is likely to stay there beyond the Easter period.
A spokesman said: “As a sensible precaution and for practical reasons in the current circumstances, a number of changes are being made to the
Queen’s diary.” The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are understood to be taking “appropriate measures” over coronavirus after it emerged Prince Harry could have been exposed to it during his final UK engagements this month.
He hugged Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton as they opened the Silverstone Experience Centre.
Two days earlier, Hamilton was photographed at the WE Day UK charity events in London alongside actor Idris Elba and Sophie Trudeau, the wife of the
Canadian prime minister – both of whom have tested positive for Covid-19.
The Queen’s garden parties at the palace have been called off and the Holyroodhouse garden party in Edinburgh, which takes place in July, is under review.
Cancelled
The Queen’s “dine and sleep” event during her Easter Court residence at Windsor will undoubtedly be cancelled.
Celebrity guests in the past have included director Tim Burton, actress Helena Bonham Carter and 007 star Daniel Craig.
