WORKING IT OUT ON HOME FRONT

- By David Pilditch

SUSANNA Reid was saying “Good Morning Britain” from home yesterday as she chose to self-isolate for 14 days.

The GMB presenter, 49, appeared on the ITV show via videolink to explain why she wasn’t there. She told co-hosts Piers Morgan and Charlotte Hawkins: “One of the boys, one of my [three] children, has a cough, a persistent cough, and that came on yesterday.

“That means that immediately I thought, I can’t go into work and work with you guys for 14 days.”

Piers joked: “I have heard of some ways of avoiding working with me but this is ridiculous.”

Other stars staying at home include Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger, 72, who posted a video from his kitchen in California.

He fed his miniature horse Whiskey and donkey Lulu as he told viewers: “See, the important thing is that you stay at home, because there’s a curfew now.

“No one is allowed out.

Especially someone who is 72 years old. After you are 65, you are not allowed out of the house any more in California.

“So we stay home and we eat here.” He then told his pets: “We don’t go out, we don’t go to restaurants, we don’t do anything like that any more here.”

Meanwhile US supermodel Cindy Crawford, 54, posted two photos of herself working from home. In one snap she poses relaxed with her feet on her desk while in another she looks somewhat less organised. She said: “It’s important we take it seriously and work together, so that we can keep others from getting sick.”

Back in Britain, BBC Breakfast presenters also took measures against coronavirus infection by spreading themselves across the studio instead of sitting next to each other on the red sofa.

BBC newsreader George Alagiah, 64, said he was “absolutely gutted” after taking the decision to “stay away from the newsroom”.

He continues to have treatment after being diagnosed with stage-four bowel cancer in 2014.

He tweeted: “After talking to colleagues and doctors I’ve decided to stay away from the newsroom.

“I’m on a few weeks cancer treatment break at the moment but, on a balance of risks, we all decided I must heed the advice for those with underlying health issues.”

Idris Elba, Game Of Thrones star Kristofer Hivju and Tom Hanks and his wife RitaWilson are among stars who have so far tested positive for coronavirus.
