Kane ready to get going when season swings into action
HARRY KANE says he would be only “two or three weeks” away from a return to action with the first team if the season were still going.
The Tottenham star expects to be fully fit and raring to go when the season resumes after the coronavirus pandemic has cleared.
The initial prognosis was for an early April return when he damaged his hamstring against Southampton in January so badly that it required an operation.
Thanks to intense rehabilitation work, Kane is on track, although the earliest the authorities are now saying football will resume in England is April 30.
If the season is completed as anticipated, and Kane is able to play a full part, it means in total he will only have missed nine games. “I’m good,” the England captain said. “From a rehab point of view and personal point of view, I’m doing really well. I’m at a good stage now and just working hard, doing a lot of recovery, a lot of rehab and just waiting to see what happens to the season. “I’m not too far away from where I’d want to be. I’d normally hope to be back with the team in two or three weeks’ time. “I’m at a good stage, pretty much doing everything. Now it’s about building up my fitness. So from my personal point of view, I’m in a good place. Other than that, my family is well. Obviously, everyone is thinking about coronavirus at the moment and it’s a time to be together, to stay safe and hopefully everything will be all right.”
