David’s dad, 71, takes a punt on marrying again

LOOKS like David Beckham’s dad is netting himself a new bride after getting engaged to his solicitor girlfriend.
Ted Beckham, 71, and Hilary Meredith started dating last year.
They announced in a statement yesterday: “While there are far more important things going on in the world right now, we are thrilled to say that we are happily engaged. Stay safe everyone.”
The couple met through their charity work for Army veterans at Broughton House care village in Salford, Greater Manchester.
Rocked
Last night they were celebrating their big news by themselves as they selfisolated at home in Cheshire.
Ted was previously married for 32 years to Sandra, mum of former England footballer David. The family was rocked by their divorce in 2002.
Ted’s new love Hilary is a lobbyist best known for her work for the Armed Forces, veterans and their families.
She runs law firm Hilary Meredith Solicitors and is also Visiting Professor of Law and

David, 44, has yet to comment on his dad’s engagement but he has remained close to both Ted and Sandra, 71.
This week Becks and his fashion designer wife Victoria, 45, have kept fans amused by posting a funny video of them self-isolating at their estate in the Cotswolds. The couple, who
got married in 1999, filmed themselves making a lemon drizzle cake in the kitchen to while away the time.
As David used the mixer, a suspicious noise could be heard.
Victoria burst into laughter and insisted: “That was the dog! That was the dog making that noise!”
David replied: “Darling, don’t lie! Seriously, we know you had baked beans for lunch!”
