Like it or not, we’ll have to DIY just now
MANY of us love a bit of DIY and are viewing the current lockdown as the perfect opportunity to start a project, a study reveals.
Almost a third of us said home improvements are one of our favourite ways to relax and switch off from everyday life.
And, with the majority of the population now working from home, seven in 10 feel the next three months will be the perfect time to crack on with a new DIY task.
Mowing the lawn, planting bulbs and putting flatpack furniture together were named as the most satisfying DIY jobs.
Weeding, painting and jet-washing the patio were also mentioned, along with hanging up pictures and stripping wallpaper.
Organising a toolbox, holes and smashing down a wall were other tasks found to be popular.
The survey of 2,000 adults also revealed Britons enjoy cleaning paint off a paintbrush – and seeing it run down the drain.

A SNAPPER got these incredible wildlife photos – by hiding his camera in elephant dung.
Photographer William Steel, 28, stumbled on the unusual technique after noticing that the jumbo droppings proved irresistible to Africa’s wildlife.
The shots, left, were all captured with a time-lapse camera which William returns to after a few days.
He said: “It’s so exciting to see what they have captured.
“It’s usually a disappointment, but every now and then something amazing is photographed – and the hours of groundwork pays off.
“The lack of impact on wildlife is the most important aspect.”
William took all the images in Botswana, southern Africa, where he is also a guide.

“And while not all of them are satisfying while you’re doing them, there is always satisfaction to be had at the end of a project.
“No matter how stressful our lives are, or whatever’s going on in the world, finding that perfect screw out of the hundreds in the box, or hanging a sheet of wallpaper perfectly straight is always going to feel great.”
We also take nearly three days off each year to tackle DIY problems that need taking care of around the house and garden.
As the lockdown continues, a quarter of us now plan to clean the patio, while four in 10 have some weeding to do.
