Bernie: Being a dad at 89 is no different to 29
BERNIE Ecclestone has revealed his delight over becoming a father again at 89 – insisting it would make no difference if he was 29.
The former Formula One motor racing chief’s fourth child will be his first with third wife Fabiana Flosi, 44.
The baby, his first boy, is due in the summer.
Bernie said: “I don’t see there’s any difference between being 89 and 29. You’ve got the same problems I suppose. It’s alright.” The baby will be born a few months before Bernie’s 90th birthday in October.
The billionaire has three grown-up daughters, Deborah, Tamara, and Petra from two previous marriages.
He also has grandchildren. Bernie married marketing manager Fabiana in 2012.
They live at their farm in
Fabiana’s native Brazil. Bernie said: “We’re fine. We’re in Brazil at the moment, so we have to wait a little while and see whether this little one is going to happen in Brazil or in England.
“After my Formula One time, we also had enough time to practise.
“It is due in the summer. Hopefully, he’ll learn to play backgammon soon.
“Everybody is very pleased. They’re all happy. It’s too early for names.” Asked what kind of father he was going to be this time, he added: “We don’t know, probably better than before, probably a bit more relaxed.”
Bernie was chief executive of the Formula One Group until 2017, having become involved in motorsport in the 1950s.
He had become an F1 executive in the 1970s.
He reportedly turned down a knighthood in the early 2000s as he did not believe he deserved it.
