Sussexes lift lid on bid for ‘freedom’ in tell-all book
HARRY and Meghan are lifting the curtain on their lives in a bombshell biography that puts the Royal Family even further under the microscope.
In an “honest, up-close and disarming portrait” of the couple, Prince Harry, 35, and Meghan, 38, have assisted their favoured journalists Omid Scobie and Catherine Durand with the book Finding Freedom.
The book’s description on Amazon says: “For the very first time Finding Freedom goes beyond the headlines to reveal unknown details of Harry and Meghan’s life together, dispelling the many rumours and misconceptions that plague the couple on both sides of the pond.
“As members of the select group of reporters that cover the British Royal Family and their engagements, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand have witnessed the young couple’s lives as few outsiders can.”
The gushing description says the book was written with “unique access” to those closest to the couple.
It says Finding Freedom is “an honest, up-close and disarming portrait of a confident, influential and forwardthinking couple who are unafraid to break with tradition, determined to create a new path away from the spotlight and dedicated to building a humanitarian legacy that will make a profound difference in the world”.
Published by Dey Street Books, Finding Freedom had originally been due to go on sale in June.
But because of the coronavirus pandemic its worldwide release has been pushed back online to August 11.
The 320-page book is due to hit shops from August 20.
The book’s cover shows an image of Meghan and Harry on a visit to Sussex in October 2018.
Its sub-heading reads: “Harry and Meghan and the making of a modern Royal Family.” Although it is expected to be a positive portrayal of the couple, some critics expect the book to be little more than a one-sided public relations exercise for them.
There are also fears that it could be used to settle scores with some members of the Royal Family.
Harry’s mother Princess Diana was the last royal to use an outside source – author Andrew Morton – for the biography Diana: Her True Story.

Meghan’s video call with baby son Archie to the Queen on her 94th birthday were released to Mr Scobie.
There is also speculation Meghan’s inner circle has been instrumental in helping the book’s authors.
Ms Durand and British-Iranian Mr Scobie are said to be key supporters of Harry and Meghan. Mr Scobie is BAZAAR.com’s royal editor at large and American Ms Durand is a royal reporter for Elle Magazine.
The Sussexes reportedly have their hearts set on a £10million home in LA’s exclusive Pacific Palisades.
They also want to move Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland, 63, into a granny annexe in the grounds.
