Love-split rock star’s wife dies tragically

- By John Twomey

ROCK star Bruce Dickinson told of his anguish yesterday after his estranged wife was found dead at their former marital home.

Two ambulance crews had raced to the house yesterday but Paddy Bowden had already died following a “tragic accident”, the Iron Maiden singer said.

Dickinson, 61, split with her last November after 29 years of marriage when he reportedly left her for a younger woman. The couple had three children.

Now living in Paris with glamorous fitness instructor Leana Dolci, the singer said in a statement: “This is a terrible tragedy which appears to be a tragic accident.

“Our children Austin, Griffin and Kia and I are devastated. Out of respect for Paddy we won’t be making any further comment at this hugely difficult and painful time for our family.”

The London Ambulance Service confirmed paramedics were called to the house in Chiswick, west London. A spokesman said: “We

were called at 9.42am today to reports of a person unwell in Chiswick.

“We sent two ambulance crews to the scene – the first one arriving within two minutes. Sadly, the patient had already died.”

Police said the death was being treated as “unexplained but not suspicious”.

The split with Ms Bowden, who was in her late 50s, came four years after the singer beat throat cancer.

As Dickinson battled the disease, he praised the support of his wife and his children, Austin, 29, Kia, 28, and 27-year-old Griffin.

In all he underwent nine weeks of chemotherapy and 33 sessions of radiation, getting the all-clear after six months.

The star wrote about his cancer battle in his 2017 autobiography

What Does This Button Do? He also told Rolling Stone magazine how surviving it changed his outlook on life, saying: “Living is living now, every minute, every second, for right now.” A Metropolitan Police spokesman said yesterday: “Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 9.51am on Monday, 18 May to a house in Chiswick to reports of an unresponsive woman. Officers attended and the woman, in her late 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.”

The spokesman added: “The death is being treated as unexplained but non-suspicious.”

A report will be sent to the coroner. Dickinson and Ms Bowden were wed in 1990 after dating for two years. In the 1980s, he was married to Jane Dickinson for four years but they did not have children.
