FOREIGN HOLIDAYS ‘POSSIBLE’ FROM JULY

-

HEALTH Secretary Matt Hancock says foreign holidays could be possible in July.

The U-turn comes after previously saying “big, lavish international holidays” are unlikely this summer.

Yesterday he said: “I am a little more optimistic than I was about being able to get some foreign travel back up. I absolutely wouldn’t rule it out.”

Despite this, a mandatory 14-day quarantine for all travellers arriving in the UK is due to begin on June 8.

The new rules will apply to all returning holidaymakers and foreign nationals, with those who flout rules facing fines of up to £1,000.

Meanwhile TUI will not be resuming package holidays until at least the end of June, it announced yesterday.

Britain’s biggest holiday firm had previously hoped to resume travel on June 12.
