CF kids jump for joy as lockdown is eased

TEN children who shielded at home for almost three months have finally gone out to enjoy the sunshine and shared their joy with the Daily Express.

Around 2.2 million vulnerable Britons have self-isolated since mid-March because they have been at risk of suffering life-threatenin­g coronaviru­s symptoms.

This week Boris Johnson said, providing people were socially distancing, it was safe to go out for a short while.

Now 10 young cystic fibrosis sufferers in England have finally ventured out to play.

India-Rose Kali, five, took her first day out of the house in 13 weeks in Birmingham and could not stop beaming in the sunshine.

Esme Ives, two, and sister Willow, four, climbed a gate in Attleborou­gh, Norfolk, this week to stare in wonder over a lush green pasture. The thrilled siblings had been shielding for so long they had almost forgotten what the countrysid­e looked like until mum Claire let them out.

Rainford, five, was at home in Stockport for 11 weeks but when mum Linsey, 29, finally took him and his three-year-old sister Dottie for a walk, she said: “Getting them out has been incredible.”

Jack Porter, seven, from Spalding, Lincs, was treated to a stroll near a river in the glorious sunshine.

Rufus Wilson, five, of WestonSupe­r-Mare, Somerset, cautiously braved the world outside for a walk in the woods.

Oliver Ward, eight, and sister Grace, six, darted out for an hour to their local park in Hull after 11 gruelling weeks indoors.

Theo Powell, four, was itching to explore his favourite woods at Hargate Forest, near Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

Oscar Molloy, 21 months old, had his first post-shielding outing by darting through a cornfield near his home inWorceste­r.

Megan Errington, 17, leapt into the air and did the splits with joy to break the shackles of being at home in Bolton when she went out to nearby school playing fields.
