Nature: Gardeners’ World, BBC2, 9pm

Carol Klein (left) celebrates the hardy geranium and the abundance of varieties that give masses of colour to the summer garden. At Longmeadow, Monty Don adds a variety of herbs that thrive in shade to the herb garden and brings some summer annuals to the cottage garden. Nick Bailey has taken a rare opportunit­y to design his town garden from scratch and gives tips on how to plan and lay out a path. Plus, the show finds a couple who have created a garden full of mystery.

Jamie (Alexander Lincoln, above right) has endured quite a week after the ‘big reveal’ of his communicat­ions with Belle in the middle of the pub quiz and tonight he worries when Tracy reveals that Andrea left without her purse, cards, money or car. Another tough few days has been had by Amelia and Kerry is pained as she overhears her confessing to God that she egged Brenda’s windows.

Music: Later – With Jools Holland, BBC2, 10pm

Jools Holland admitted he wondered if this series of his long-running show would ever happen. The musician and broadcaste­r simply thought, “the bigwigs would just repeat the last run” as Covid-19 threatened to stop Later in its tracks. However, a new format has been found and Holland (left) is making the most of it. Ellie Goulding chats online to the host ahead of the release of her fourth album, which arrives 10 years after her debut album and first top 10 single Starry Eyed. The pair discuss the artists that have influenced her musical journey, illustrate­d by a selection of classic performanc­es from the regular show’s extensive archive.

Quiz: A Question Of Sport, BBC1, 7.30pm

A new series begins with team captains Matt Dawson and Phil Tufnell joined by England cricketer Rory Burns, British athlete Emily Diamond, former swimmer Mark Foster and ex-rugby league star Robbie Hunter-Paul, who played for four English clubs during a 19-year career. The quartet have sporting prowess, but will they have the answers to the questions of Sue Barker (above, with Dawson and Tufnell)?

Film: 27 Dresses, Film4, 6.50pm

Film fans who have a soft spot for a rom-com may already have watched this during lockdown but another viewing won’t hurt. Singleton Jane is literally always the bridesmaid and never the bride, a role she assumes for the 28th time when her sister announces she is getting married – to a man Jane is secretly in love with. As she wrestles with her feelings, Jane’s predicamen­t attracts the attention of a reporter fascinated by her story. Katherine Heigl (right) and James Marsden star.
