Left to bleed... man of 75 floored by cops at demo

TWO police officers were suspended after a 75-year-old man was seriously injured in a confrontation during US protests over the death of George Floyd.

A video of the bleeding pensioner sparked fresh outrage yesterday as tens of thousands marched peacefully through American cities.

In an incident New York governor Andrew Cuomo called “utterly disgraceful” police in riot gear are seen shoving the man outside Buffalo City Hall after the city’s 8pm curfew.

As he tries to talk to the officers they shout at him to move on. One then pushes him with a baton and another shoves him with his hand. The man staggers, falls back and hits his head on the pavement.

The sound of a crack is heard and blood is seen trickling from his head.

He was said to be stable in hospital yesterday.

Black father-of-three Mr Floyd, 46, died on May 25 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, after white policeman Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes.

Mr Floyd is heard screaming repeatedly “I can’t breathe!” before passing out.

Chauvin, 44, is charged with second-degree murder and three of his colleagues with aiding and abetting seconddegree murder.

Hundreds have complained about police heavy-handedness during protests and dozens have threatened to sue for damages.

Police in Indianapolis, Indiana, are investigating after a video showed at least four officers hitting a woman with batons and shooting pepper balls at her.

Meanwhile footage emerged of police in Tacoma, Washington, beating handcuffed black man Manuel Ellis. He died in custody in March.

Tacoma mayor Victoria Woodards has called for the officers to be sacked. Earlier this week police used tear gas, pepper and smoke bombs to disperse demonstrators outside the White House to allow President Donald Trump to walk to a nearby church for a photo opportunity.

The America Civil Liberties Union has filed a lawsuit accusing Mr Trump and others of violating the constitutional rights of protesters.

Twitter has disabled the President’s campaign tribute video to Mr Floyd, citing a copyright complaint.

The clip, a collection of photos, videos of protest marches and violent incidents in the aftermath of Mr Floyd’s death, has Mr Trump speaking in the background.
