The Daily Express pays tribute to a devoted GP and a dedicated care home nurse who lost their lives to Covid-19 while bravely doing their work helping others
ABDORREZA SEDGHI Trainee GP Died May 27
DR Abdorreza Sedghi, known affectionately as Abdy, had been based at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage since August 2019 and had “charisma and personality”.
Born and trained in Iran, he came to the UK with the aim of working in general practice, joining the Central Herts GP Training scheme at Lister Hospital. Nick Carver, chief executive of East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, said his colleague was “greatly valued” by fellow staff.
He said: “Abdy made a big impact with his charisma and personality.
“He was devoted to his patients, taking time to understand their problems and worries.”
Dr Sedghi died at the Royal Papworth Hospital after contracting Covid-19 in April.
LALAINE LOPEZ PESARIO Care home nurse Died May 3, aged 54
MARRIED mother-of-one Lalaine Lopez Pesario was an exuberant spirit who “brought light” to the lives of patients at Mumbles Nursing Home in Swansea where she worked.
Chatty and kind, she was praised for her dedication and caring attitude towards others.
Yolanda Jones, director of the nursing home, said: “She was compassionate and treated everyone with extra care and love.
“She brought light to our home as she loved to dance and sing.”
Ms Lopez Pesario was an excellent cook who loved baking cakes and making food for everyone, Ms Jones added.
“Always smiling and laughing, she was a breath of fresh air,” she said.
Ms Lopez Pesario is believed to have worked in Mumbles for 18 months.
She is survived by her husband Carlos and her child.
