Chillin’ Eve...Baftas BBQ for Jodie

- By Frances Millar

KILLING Eve star Jodie Comer had a much more laid-back TV Baftas this year, with bubbly and a barbie in her back garden on the hottest day of the year.

Despite the unusual circumstances, the leading actress nominee still stunned in a suitably summery maxi dress by Nigerian-born designer Duro Olowu – which arrived by post in the nick of time.

Instead of walking the red carpet like last year, Jodie, 27, showed off her frock in a pre-ceremony Instagram snap from her home in Liverpool.

“Bafta is looking a little different this year… I’ve swapped the Royal Festival Hall for a BBQ in the back garden!!” she wrote before thanking Parcelforce staff for ensuring her dress arrived that morning.

She joked: “After saying I was going to wear my pyjamas to this year’s Baftas I nearly got what I wished for!”

Jodie was shortlisted for playing assassin

Suranne,

41, also shared a snap on her

Instagram ahead of the ceremony, wearing her character Anne Lister’s signature top hat.

Comedian Richard Ayoade hosted the 2020 British Academy Television Awards from behind closed doors.

Amid a galaxy of stars appearing by video link, a handful of them were at the BBC’s studio in London, including presenter Stacey Dooley, comedian Greg Davies, actor Adrian Lester and actress Jessica Hynes.

Comic Tom Allen greeted them for the pre-show social media footage alongside TV star Emily Atack.

Among the winners, Strictly Come Dancing took the Entertainment Programme award.

And the Special Award went to actor, producer, director and musician Idris Elba.
