Bearded owner is shown up by the hair of the dog
THEY say dogs look like their owners and that’s certainly true for hipsters Max and Cody Hopkins.
In fact Shih Tzu Max is often told his beard and tache are better than his 42-year-old human pal’s.
Cody’s wife Candice, 37, said: “It’s hilarious how well Max pulls off his long beard look and we get him groomed every six weeks to ensure it stays a good shape at all times.
“On our daily walks we are stopped by strangers who want to pose up next to Max and have their photos taken.
“He is often told that he has a better beard than Cody. And I guess it’s not every day that you see a dog with a beard.”
The family, from Utah, US, have four other dogs but it’s only Max who goes to the doggy beauty parlour for a regular wash and trim.
The eight-year-old pooch seems to sense his celebrity status and will often behave like a diva, according to Candice, who has three children – daughters
Logan, 20, and Payton, 17, and son Gunner, 11.
Candice said: “Max is definitely pampered but he loves the limelight.
“Whenever he sees a camera he strikes a pose, and he knows how popular he is.
“He sleeps with Gunner, every night on his bed, and will wait at the door when it’s bedtime.
“My two daughters love him too as he has such a funny personality.”
Max has proven so popular that the family have had requests from beard companies to use his images for promotions.
Candice said: “Max has featured on social pages for some beard product companies.
“He is very hipster and we do decorate his beard every so often, either with beads or baubles at Christmas.
“We have given him a Mohawk before and a lion’s mane but the beard is definitely here to stay.”
