Good sleep delivered
THE bed-in-a-box idea has been having a moment during this year’s boom in online shopping and home deliveries. They’re actually a vacuum-sealed rolled mattresses, which is not such a snappy name but the convenience of having one delivered to your door without having to trail round shops lying on beds is a stroke of genius.
Although early versions were criticised for being flimsy, the latest offer a combination of pocket springs to support your weight plus memory foam that moulds to your contours; and now two of Britain’s leading brands are taking the concept to the next level.
Yorkshire-based Duvalay has launched a new collection of three Easysleep mattresses made from memory foam.
Its stand-out Easysleep Three combines FreshTec foam that prevents heat retention thanks to a 3D breathable mesh, with S-Line pocket springs for medium support.
Similarly, Lancashire-based Silentnight has a new rolled mattress collection with three options: Studio Gel with a Geltex filling for breathability to keep you cool, Studio Memory for extra pressure relief and Studio Eco – the latest in its range of mattresses made from recycled plastic bottles.
Counter-intuitively these recycled bottles – the firm has used 105 million so far – produce fibres within the mattress that are extrabreathable to regulate your body temperature.
Silentnight’s eco-policies include recycling 100 per cent of its manufacturing waste and it offsets factory and fleet emissions with tree planting initiatives in the NorthWest.
But the bottom line is comfort and both firms deliver, with guarantees to exchange your mattress if you don’t like it.
