UNITED SET TO GIVE UP ON SANCHO

- By Jeremy Cross

MANCHESTER United are poised to end their pursuit of England and Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.

United bosses believe Dortmund are holding them to ransom after demanding £110m for the 20-year-old and refusing to budge on the asking price.

But United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward values Sancho, right, closer to £80m and is not prepared to go higher.

Express Sport exclusively revealed last week that United are willing to make a first and final bid of that amount in the belief it is

a fair price. But Dortmund are digging in and talks between the two clubs have broken down.

Now it has emerged United are prepared to walk away from the deal and look at other targets including Jack Grealish, Harry Kane and Donny van de Beek before revisiting the situation in 12 months’ time.

Signing Sancho for £110m would make him the jointfourth most expensive player in history – and United are not prepared to do it.

However, boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to have his hand strengthened in the transfer market by getting Alexis Sanchez off the books. The Chilean misfit has agreed terms to cancel his contract at Old Trafford to seal a permanent move to Inter Milan following a loan spell.

Sanchez, right, is set to sign a three-year deal with Inter after agreeing to effectively rip up his contract at United.

The 31-year-old had another two years remaining on his contract, but is now set to agree a deal worth £130,000 a week, after tax, to remain in Italy.
