Any way the wine flows, doesn’t really matter

PEOPLE are opting to stay at home listening to music and drinking wine rather than return to pubs after lockdown – with Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody their No1 choice.

The 1975 classic, with its line “Any way the wind blows, doesn’t really matter to me”, has been voted the top song to listen to over a glass.

It was followed by No Woman, No Cry by Bob Marley and Hey Jude by The Beatles, a survey by leading wine brand Jacob’s Creek found.

The poll of 2,000 people found 74 per cent would rather stay at home in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. Just 26 per cent say they have no qualms about going to pubs despite fears of infections or new restrictions such as social distancing.

Of those who prefer to remain indoors, 43 per cent say listening to music is their favourite way of passing the time.

Another 32 per cent love drinking wine or having friends for dinner.

Watching films is also a popular alternative to the pub, with Forrest Gump,The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile the top choices.

Some 40 per cent of people say they are put off going to a friend’s house if a stranger is going to be there or they can’t socially distance.

Lucy Bearman, brand director of Australia-based Jacob’s Creek, said: “It’s no surprise almost three quarters of Brits are preferring to stay at home at the weekends rather than going to a pub or restaurant.

“With many still nervous after lockdown, at-home drinking seems to be the safest form of entertainment.”
