ALISSON’S WONDERLAND

Reds keeper confident title winners will get even better

- By David Maddock

ALISSON has promised there are “great things to come” from a Liverpool side that he says has even more hunger and “desire” after two trophy-laden years.

And the Brazilian keeper warned those who will try to take the Reds’ title that they are far from satisfied with the four major trophies won so far.

“I think every year our strengths are renewing. The great feeling from winning things gives you the desire to win again, everything,” he explained.

“We’ve won the Champions League and we will go for that again. We’ve won the Premier League and we will go for that again.

“We’ve done amazing things in the past two seasons and I am looking forward to what we can do in the next one. I am really thankful to God for what happened so far, but I believe there are many great things to come for us.”

It is that hunger for trophies which defines this Liverpool team.Their mentality stood out in the Premier League last season, taking them to what proved an ultimately unchallenged title triumph.

As champions though, Alisson is adamant they won’t be fearful in defence of their crown. In fact, he says, they will be even bolder.

The keeper pointed out that manager Jurgen Klopp said his team won’t defend the title, but attack it. And speaking to the club’s website, he said: “Definitely, 100 per cent I agree with him.

“It was the way we won the title – by attacking it. If you want to defend it, we have to attack it again.

“We will prepare for that, we will be on our toes when we are back in action.”

That means attacking from the first kick-off, which comes against Arsenal in the Community Shield on August 29, and the Brazil star explained that is the intention.

“It will be great to start the season fighting for a trophy. We are here to do our best to prepare not only for that game, but for the whole season,” he said at Liverpool’s training camp in Austria.

“Everybody is excited for that. We are also looking forward to the future when it is possible to have the supporters again in the stadium. I think when that moment arrives, it will be really special.”

Liverpool meanwhile, are ready to ignore loan requests for two of their young talents, despite several clubs asking about Marko Grujic and HarryWilson.

Grujic has been on loan at Hertha Berlin for the past two seasons, but that will not continue, with the Reds insisting they will only consider a sale at a valuation of about £20million.

Wilson was at Bournemouth last season, but is not expected to go out on loan again.
