- By David Pilditch

FORMER EastEnders star Tamzin Outhwaite has been left “devastated” after thieves stole a coat she inherited from her late mother.

The actress, 49, told how the “irreplaceable” leopard print Jaeger coat was snatched along with a suitcase packed with her favourite clothes and jewellery.

Tamzin, who played Mel Owen in the BBC soap, took to social media to launch an appeal for the return of the beloved coat.

She wrote on Twitter: “I can’t sleep as I keep remembering what was in the case.

“Nothing compares to the Jaeger coat, which I think of my mum wearing when I think of her.

“I know she would have said, ‘Tam, they are just things, possessions, don’t worry.’ But I’m devastated.

“It was unique and irreplaceable.”

Tamzin’s mother Anna died two years ago aged 67.

In a tribute,Tamzin wrote: “It’s no age to go but let’s have a huge round of applause for the way you lived your life. I’m striving to be more like you daily.”

Yesterday, Tamzin told how she was awoken by the sound of a car alarm at 1am before discovering her vehicle had been broken into.

She was due to help out a friend on a project and had packed a large suitcase full of gear and placed it in the boot of her car in preparation.Tamzin said she called police and drove around the area in the early hours “looking for someone dragging a very heavy case” but her search was in vain.

She said: “If anyone sees a leopard print, beautiful Jaeger coat in a 10 and a bunch of other clothes, please report it.”

The star is tipped to be a cast member in the new series of I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!
