HARRY’S GREAT ENTERTAINERS

Kane excited by new faces and goal glut

- By Neil McLeman

HARRY KANE hopes Tottenham keep on scoring a famous five goals every week with Gareth Bale in the team.

Ossie Ardiles’ side in the Nineties always dared to do with Jurgen Klinsmann, Teddy Sheringham, Ilie Dumitrescu, Darren Anderton and Nicky Barmby providing the thrills.

Now under the usually pragmatic Jose Mourinho, the Wales superstar will be joining a 2020 forward line of Kane and Son Heung- Min which scored five yesterday.

Prodigal son Bale is not yet fit but Son did not waste his four chances – and Kane provided all four assists before scoring the fifth in a ruthless display.

The addition of Bale and new left- back Sergio Reguilon promise to turn this Tottenham into the new great entertainers. And to keep up another great Spurs tradition, they will also concede lots too.

“It’s great to have Sergio and Gareth with us,” said the England captain. “We have a lot of games, a busy schedule so we will need the whole squad.

“We have got great competition for places in that area and I’m sure he ( Gareth) will be excited. Hopefully, we can score five in most games and keep up the winning run.”

Son added: “It was a bit of a shame not to score more than five goals.”

Yet Spurs’ outrageous performance after the break is only half the story.

Both England strikers Kane – twice – and Danny Ings had early goals disallowed.

But with the Saints high press squeezing the life out of them, , the visitors were so poor initially y they deserved to be trailing to Ings’ gs’ lethal finish h from a tight t angle after 32 minutes.

The game changed in n first- half injury ry time. Tanguy uy Ndombele started a superb move with a run and pass to Kane. His first- time pass released Son to score with Spurs’ only legitimate shot and touch in the Saints box in the entire half.

Mourinho still replaced Ndombele with Giovani Lo Celso at the break and the Argentinian midfielder – and later Erik Lamela – immediately showed why by finding the time to feed Kane who set up Son for his second.

The England captain provided two more assists for Son – he had two in the Premier League in the whole of last season – before finally finding the net after Alex McCarthy touched a Lamela shot onto a post.

An illogical game had a fitting conclusion when referee David Coote used VAR to judge Matt Doherty y was g guilty of handball after Mou Moussa Djenepo’s cross deflected off Harry Winks and up on to his arm. Ings co converted the late p penalty.

Despite the new arrivals, Mourinho just w wanted to talk ab about his first leag league victory of the se season.

“It’s unfair to speak about new signings when this team won 5- 2,” he said. SOUTHAMPTON ( 4- 4- 2): McCarthy 6; WalkerPeters 7, Stephens 5, Bednarek 5, Bertrand 7; Armstrong 5 ( Tella 68, 6), Djenepo 7, Romeu 6 ( Smallbone 55, 6), Ward- Prowse 6; Adams 7 ( Long 80), Ings 8.
