“My job as a manager is to try to give Kepa confidence,” said Lampard.

“I’m actually happier in many ways than I was after Brighton on Monday.
“It was a game of spirit and character and lots of individuals showed me good things today.”
Alisson showed the importance of a good goalkeeper by saving Jorginho’s late penalty.
Liverpool fans, though, were more excited by an impressive debut from substitute Thiago Alcantara.
“He needs to get used to his team- mates,” said Klopp. “But when they went one man down it became the perfect game for him.
“We decided to bring Thiago on early because it was 11 v 10 and a player like him can command the rhythm.
“It was the perfect start for him and the boys helped him massively.
“Defensively it was tricky, but offensively, with the ball – that’s him. He wants to pass the ball.”
