Beauty trends for 2021

-

This year will serve up a whole raft of exciting new tweakments and skincare, promising a fresher and more youthful you. Whether you’re after healthier skin or a facelift in your lunch hour, there will be something that works.

Here we reveal the innovative and inspiring trends for the 12 months ahead.

Top of the tweakments Game- changing fillers

The next generation of hyaluronic acid fillers includes an advanced form known as Resilient Hyaluronic Acid or RHA.

It provides an additional layer of hydration along with antioxidants to plump, moisturise and tighten skin. The treatment can also address deep facial wrinkles, and folds around the nose and mouth that can usually only be treated with surgery.

Also heading this way, is the launch of DAXI, a new neurotoxin that will last for six months. It’s a gamechanger for those seeking smoother skin and reduced wrinkles with fewer trips to the clinic.

Grow your own

Regenerative medicine is the future of aesthetic treatments and is set to be huge this year.

By using a patient’s own blood and stem cells ( known as SVF, PRP and cellular techniques) these organic procedures can delay the signs of ageing by tackling the process from within the body.

Skin will look younger and healthier as the process stimulates the growth of new collagen and elastin in the skin, which leads to longer- lasting, natural- looking results. Treatments can also stimulate hair growth and improve some health conditions. From £ 5k.

Designer eyes

As masks will continue to be part of our life this year, treatments for eyelid and brow rejuvenation will continue to be the most wanted.

Look out for The Lid Pinch, which can be carried out in less than an hour using local anaesthetic. It involves the removal of a small amount of skin just below the lash line, to smooth the skin and tighten sagging.

Expect to pay from £ 1,200. The cat- eyed look, inspired by celebrities like Bella Hadid, is also on the rise. The tweakment uses new smaller threads designed for the eye area around the outer corners of the eyes and brows to create an almond shape with a lifted brow tail. The procedure takes less than an hour using local anaesthetic. From £ 500.

Lunch- hour facelifts

Refreshing your face in your lunch hour with a needle- free and a knife- free facelift is set to be the t most in- demand tweakment this t year. HiFu uses high intensity

focused ultrasound to lift and tighten all areas of the face, including brows, sagging cheeks, jowls and neck without any needles or scalpels.

A small handpiece delivers a series of ultrasound pulses that bypass the skin’s top layers and goes into the deep underlying connective tissue, boosting the production of collagen, elastin and other proteins. From £ 500.

Cellulite buster

This year will see the first approved injectable for bottom cellulite, which affects 90 per cent of all women. Called QWO ( collagenase clostridium histolyticum- aaes), the injectable works on the collagen in the fibrous septae, which provide structural support to our skin. It releases the cellulite dimple so that the skin and fat can spread out more evenly.

This also stimulates new collagen to help give a smoother appearance to the skin.

Skincare trends Radiant skin

Look out for the new anti- stress skincare and all- in- one recovery balms to hydrate, bolster the skin barrier and take down irritation.

Try deMamiel’s First Fix, £ 130 ( demamiel. com), a solution that targets skin compromised by stress using western and Chinese medicine.

Beauty in bacteria

The skincare microbiome movement will go mainstream this year. Much like our gut relies on active probiotics and other gut bacteria to restore health, the skin’s biome needs to maintain certain bacteria for health and to reduce inflammation.

Look out for brands such as Algenist, Mother Dirt, Aurelia and Esse, which have formulated skincare with probiotics and prebiotics to help strengthen sensitive skin, n, fight the signs of pollution and calm skin conditions like eczema and acne.

It uses a potent organic formula comprising Irish- sourced organic peat, lady’s mantle ( a hyperacid that tightens pores) and hyaluronic acid.

Hair and scalp boosts

Haircare brands have moved b beyond the basics to launch scalp s scrubs and serums, bringing more s skincare- like ingredients such as p peptides, ceramides and s salicylic acid into play.

Try Fudge Professional B Blow Dry Aqua Primer c cruelty- free, £ 15.50 ( fudgeprofessional. com) w with hyaluronic acid, d delivering all- day humidity r resistance and frizz control, boosting smoothness and shine.
