Toxic Trump is left abandoned

DONALD Trump was the man who loved to fire people. Not just on his TV show The Apprentice, but at the White House too.

Staff in his inner circle were routinely spat out of the ever-revolving door and publicly humiliated for falling foul of the President.

He drove enemies from their jobs, humiliated dissenters and demanded total obedience from all.

But today, after becoming the first US leader to be impeached for a second time, after being charged with inciting last week’s deadly riots, it is Mr Trump who is being dropped by his one-time loyalists.

Even his favourite daughter, Ivanka, has reportedly sparked his fury after agreeing to attend Joe Biden’s inauguration next week after her father refused.

As his former Republican Presidential rival Carly Fiorina said: “His brand is toxic.” On Wednesday the House voted 232 to 197 to impeach Mr Trump exactly one week after his rioting supporters forced lawmakers to fear for their lives after the cordon was so easily breached in the capital.

Ten party colleagues, including the third most senior Republican, Liz Cheney, above, joined all Democrats to impeach the President for “incitement of insurrection”.

Ms Cheney’s statement was cited by supporters and detractors alike after she charged that Mr Trump “summoned this mob, assembled the mob and lit the flame of this attack”.

Yesterday thousands more troops filed into Washington DC ahead of Mr Biden’s swearing-in on Wednesday as fears grow that armed Trump fans will march again on the capital, sparking more bloodshed.

So as Mr Trump prepares to leave the White House, where insiders say he is furious allies are not publicly defending him, we look at how the former Apprentice star is now being fired – not just by the voters and his party but by others too.
