SCAM OF THE WEEK

THE SAGA with VAT charges on goods purchased from EU traders has given rise to a new scam. Fraudsters are sending out emails purporting to be from HMRC.

The email states that you must now pay £35 in relation to your recent purchase from a trader located in the EU and provides a link for the payment. Anyone receiving this who has recently purchased from an EU trader is likely to believe that it is genuine. It’s a scam.
