Documentary: Paul Merton In China, C5, 7pm

The comedian, writer, entertainer and Have I Got News For You regular undertakes a six-week tour of the country, exploring the major cities and visiting lesser-known backwaters in a cultural examination of the Eastern superpower. He starts out in Beijing, where he tastes local cuisine at a “speciality” restaurant and discovers an array of unfamiliar produce at a night market, encounters a hip-hop group who rap about food and pays a visit to Tiananmen Square (left) were student-led demonstrations were held during 1989.
