HARRY DOESN’T GET TO CHERRY-PICK NOW HE HAS TURNED HIS BACK ON QUEEN AND COUNTRY

-

PRINCE HARRY, who quit royal life just over a year ago, says he’s determined to hang on to his three honorary military titles. Well, he can be as determined as he likes but it’s not actually up to him – it’s up to the Queen. And the only reason she hasn’t already handed over Harry’s titles to other members of the family is because she wanted to give him time to see if life across the pond was working out for him.

And it is. He’s bought a $14million mansion and he and Meghan are now financially independent. But now he’s moaning that keeping his titles and military links are pivotal to his reputation and his future.Well they aren’t, are they, because he was warned that quitting royal life would mean losing them – but he did it anyway.

And what use is he to those organisations he represents when he’s an ocean away from them? They need consistency and they need him to be here – and he won’t be.

Patronages are part of being a working royal – and Harry isn’t any more. You don’t get to leave the job and keep the perks so you can strut around your new country in a uniform ablaze with medals and gold braid and make out like you’re some hero Prince.

This is all about ego – Harry’s fragile ego. I suspect he’s lost himself and his identity in the US because life as Meghan’s not-verybright sidekick can’t be terribly fulfilling. And maybe those titles are a reminder of a time when life was actually about something he loved – the military.

The Queen made it crystal clear when he left that “there could be no one foot in, one foot out” approach, yet that’s exactly what he wants now.

Harry was determined to live his life away from the Royals and from a Britain he believed to be racist. Everyone in his family tried to talk him out of it – but he refused to listen. He was focused on Meghan, on saving the planet and on making lots of money.

So, why doesn’t he just get on with that instead of clinging to the life he so carelessly threw away?
