Trainer rocked by £13,500 dog burglary

The crash occurred on the C50 road near Auchinleck. Yesterday the car was on the grass verge under a tarpaulin. The area was sealed off as forensics officers worked, while roads in Kilmarnock town centre were also closed.

A DOG trainer has been left devastated after four sheepdogs worth £13,500 in total were stolen from their kennel.

Frank Satterthwa­ite, 71, who owns three of the dogs, said he “couldn’t believe it” when he found the door had been kicked in.

He added: “Not only are they very excellent working dogs they’re also family pets that we love. I didn’t realise how much I loved them until they were gone.”

The retired builder, from rural Cumbria, has been training dogs for 40 years.Three bitches and one male were stolen between 3pm on January 27 and 12.20pm on January 28.

Cumbria Police said: “The dogs are all black and white, although one has a yellow colour under her chest and another has one brown eye and one blue.”
