Catering to your every need

- By Deborah Stone

WE ALL thought the world would have started turning again by now but instead we’re stuck with a longer lockdown than ever. Even if the weather wasn’t so glum, exercising opportunities – even a nice walk – are limited.

So many of us find ourselves sitting inside, watching TV… and eating. We remember those lockdown pounds from last spring yet it seems so hard to keep them at bay.The Government is pushing to cut obesity and we all want to be at our best for the glorious start of spring – when we should be able to go out and revel in the good weather.

We need something to concentrate the mind, but in a soothing, celebratory way.The solution is Jane Plan, a healthy weight programme based around good food – and without any fuss.

Sign up for a one, two, three or four-month plan and a treasure trove of full-board meals (breakfast through to dinner, including snacks) will arrive on your doorstep every 28 days, all calorie controlled.

The cooked dishes are specially sealed so they don’t need to be refrigerated and can be heated via hob, oven or microwave. Just add fruit and vegetables to taste.

And these are real meals – beef ragu, or chicken with mascarpone and tomatoes, Indian or Italian dishes – rather than restrained diet food. Jane Plan is designed to change how we eat. Just trying to consume less doesn’t work – we need to enjoy everything that arrives for full nutritional benefit.

But Jane Plan is more than simply meals that are created by Jane Plan’s nutrition team and cooked in their kitchens. Each week a qualified nutritionist gets in touch with lifestyle lessons and encouragement, and there are live online exercise classes too. There’s also education on how to maintain weight loss once you’ve got where you want to be.

In order to lose weight we have to eat fewer calories than our body needs to stay at its present weight, says Jane Plan founder, author and nutritionist Jane Michell. She explains: “To lose 1lb of weight a week, we need 500 calories less a day.”

Jane Plan provides a daily 1,200 calories although for very active people, and those who require more, there are 1,400 calories, in line with NHS guidelines to ensure a weekly 1-2lb weight loss.

For a more flexible approach there’s the “weekends off” plan, and also five-day meals or the chance to enjoy Jane Plan online recipes.

Lockdown might be with us for a while yet, but with Jane Plan we can enjoy our food and lose weight too…
