Trump facing ‘new evidence’ of inciting riot
PROSECUTORS showed video clips of Donald Trump rallying supporters before their deadly surge on the US Capitol at the start of his second impeachment trial.
Democrats yesterday vowed to offer “devastating new evidence” that the ex-US leader incited the MAGA mob that led to five deaths. A senior aide to the case said the trial will resemble a
“violent crime prosecution”.
Footage from the January 6 attack showed supporters clashing with police, scaling the Capitol’s walls and breaching doors before storming the Senate floor and offices. One clip showed the moment a rioter was shot and killed by police.
The film was interspersed with audio of Trump saying “We fight like hell” and “We’re going to the Capitol”.
He had urged supporters to march on the Senate as members voted to certify Joe Biden’s election victory.
House impeachment boss Jamie Raskin said Trump’s actions constitute a high crime and misdemeanour. He added: “If that’s not an impeachable offence, then there is no such thing.” Trump is still likely to be cleared.

Driver Patrick McDonagh, 19, and pregnant Shauna, 18, led officers on an 89mph chase after being pulled over for jumping a light.
They died when their Renault hit a coach and burst into flames in Acton, west London.
