Macaw who brings colour to our Peaks
A MULTI-coloured macaw has been specially trained to soar across the skies over the Peak District.

The zoo biology student raised him from 21 weeks old and even hand-fed him. She decided to research free-flying – where birds are trained to fly outdoors without restraint and return to their handler.
She said: “Free-flying looked to be an incredible way to bond with your bird and offer it a somewhat natural way of life. In March 2020 we practised recall training, improving his skills, until I got to the point he was fully trained to free-fly outside.”
She described the careful process as “training, patience and finding what motivates the bird”.
LOCH Ness is still proving to be a monster hit with tourists as it came joint top in a poll of our favourite places to visit in Britain. David Horne of London North Eastern Railway, who commissioned the survey, said: “It’s clear to see that as a nation we’re proud to be home to some amazing views.”
