THE Duke of Edinburgh is expected to remain in hospital for “observation and rest” into next week, sources say.
Philip was admitted to King Edward VII’s Hospital in central London on Tuesday evening after feeling unwell. He walked unaided into the medical centre.
The Duke, who turns 100 on June 10, was taken in for an undisclosed reason, though it is not Covid-related.
Sources claimed: “Following consultation with his doctor, the Duke of Edinburgh is likely to remain in hospital for observation and rest over the weekend and into next week.
“As we have said previously, the doctor is acting with an abundance of caution. The Duke remains in good spirits.”
Despite concern for Philip due to his age, his family have continued with their duties. The morning after he was admitted, Charles and Camilla visited the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham to learn about vaccine trials. On Thursday, the Queen attended her first official event of the year.
She made Master of the Household Vice-Admiral Sir Tony Johnstone-Burt, a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order during a Windsor Castle ceremony.
