Carlo wants Kop show in every game

8PM, SKY SPORTS

- EVERTON V SOUTHAMPTON By Chris McKenna

CARLO ANCELOTTI insists Everton have to treat every game like they are playing Liverpool.

In their last match the Toffees ended a near 22-year wait for a win at Anfield with a 2-0 victory over their bitter rivals.

But they have been struggling at home, and head into tonight’s game against Southampton without a Premier League win at Goodison Park since beating Arsenal in December.

In that time they have lost to Fulham and Newcastle, as well as Manchester City and West Ham on their own patch.

But the Toffees showed in the derby that when they are at their best they are a match for top sides.

Ancelotti wants to see that from them in every game.

“When you play this type of game, a derby against Liverpool, a top team, it is easier to find the concentration and the motivation,” said the Everton manager. “It is more difficult

when you have to find the right concentration and motivation in other games and we have to work on this.

“My players are intelligent, they know we had problems in the past and we want to solve these kind of problems. At home, we have to do better.

“We have the possibility against Southampton and we don’t want to make the same mistakes as we made in the past games at home.”

Richarlison has two goals in two games as a striker in the absence of injured Dominic Calvert-Lewin. But the England international is now fit after coming off the bench to win a penalty against Liverpool and is set to start tonight.

Ancelotti insists Richarlison, 23, will have to bide his time before he can play regularly through the middle.

“I think he cannot play centre-forward because he is really good at attacking the line and to play centre-forward, most of the time, you have your back at the goal,” said the manager. EVERTON (probable): Pickford; Holgate, Keane, Godfrey, Digne; Davies, Allan, Doucoure; Rodriguez, Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison.

SOUTHAMPTON (probable): McCarthy; Salisu, Vestergaard, Bednarek, Bertrand; Redmond, Djenepo Ward-Prowse, Tella; Ings, Adams.

PABLO FORNALS said West Ham must take pride from the way they competed at Manchester City and build on their impressive display. Midfielder Fornals, below, said: “I think our supporters have to be proud for how we played against the best team in the Premier League right now. We’re upset with the result but happy how we played.”

The Hammers have a week to prepare for their next game, which is home to Leeds. Fornals added: “We have to enjoy how we’re playing, keep doing it and give this present to the people who were with us in the worst moments.”
