PRINCE Harry says he feared “history repeating itself” before he and Meghan decided to step back as senior royals, teaser clips ahead of his much-anticipated OprahWinfrey interview reveal.

In two 30-second trailers released by US network CBS, he compares their scrutiny with the treatment of his mother, Princess Diana, before her death at the age of 36 in a car crash in Paris.

OprahWith MeghanAnd Harry: A CBS Primetime Special is set to air in the US on Sunday night.

The two clips have shed light on what viewers can expect.

The first video begins with Oprah asking the Duchess of Sussex if she was “silent or silenced”, with Meghan’s answer not revealed.

She then asks the pregnant Duchess: “Sounds like there was a breaking point?”

The clip then quickly cuts to the Duke of Sussex saying:

“My biggest fear was history repeating itself.”

In the second video, Harry says he is grateful to have had Meghan’s support during his exit from royal life.

He also expresses admiration for what his mother had to endure under similar circumstances.

He tells Oprah: “I’m just really relieved and happy to be sitting here, talking to you, with my wife by my side. I can’t begin to imagine what it must have been like for her, going through this process by herself, all those years ago.

“Because it’s been unbelievably tough for the two of us, but at least we had each other.”

The first look at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s interview was teased on Sunday night.

Oprah is seen telling Meghan: “You’ve said some pretty shocking things here.”

The clips have raised fears among royal circles over just how far the couple may have gone.

Harry is seen in the footage alongside his pregnant wife in the garden of their £11million home in Montecito, California. Meghan and Harry have individual interviews with Oprah, who attended the couple’s 2018 wedding, as well as a joint sit-down chat.

It comes days after Harry’s appearance on US talk show The Late Late Show.

Yesterday, CBS insiders said the channel has no plans to delay the show if the Duke of Edinburgh’s health worsened.

A spokesman for CBS was unavailable for comment.
