Marcus eases back into tours

-

to do three months in a row? No, I don’t. It’s an ongoing process for me.

“I think I’ve learned to adapt. Every trip I do, the more I realise how much I enjoyed the touring life.

“But that’s not to say I’m ready to jump back in and do six weeks, two months or three months away.”

Trescothick, right, joined the coaching staff on England’s curtailed white-ball trip to South Africa before Christmas. He added: “Three, four, five weeks, I’m open to all that. It’s gradually getting easier for me, my kids are growing up, are less dependent on me and I have grown more and more confident to deal with it.”

He was due to link up with the white-ball contingent for the Twenty20 and one-day series in India later this month.

However, a family bereavement meant that Trescothick missed the limited-over squad’s charter flight.

Jon Lewis (pace bowling) and Jeetan Patel (spin) have also been appointed to England’s elite coaching staff.

FRANCE coach Fabien Galthie broke lockdown rules before contracting Covid ahead of the postponed Six Nations match against Scotland.

Galthie escaped the squad bubble to watch his son play a match after France’s opening game against Italy before returning to camp, French rugby president Bernard Laporte confirmed yesterday.

“For me, he has the right to leave from the moment he is masked. He was outside and masked. I don’t see where the problem could be. But then again, I’m not a doctor,” said Laporte.

It has also been reported in France that several French players left the bubble to visit a waffle restaurant in Rome ahead of the match. Sixteen squad members and staff subsequently contracted Covid.
