Elsewhere, Sean resigns from the factory and Simon warns Leanne not to cross Jacob.
Documentary: Dispatches, C4, 8pm
Hard-hitting environmental journalist Lucy Siegle (left) investigates the rise of waste incineration in the UK, examining how millions of tons of rubbish left out for recycling ends up being burned instead of being disposed of properly. Meanwhile, the rise in carbon emissions from incineration is put under the spotlight, with exclusive research revealing that it is on course to become the UK’s dirtiest form of energy production. Elsewhere, the programme also looks at how councils up and down the country are locked into expensive contracts with incinerator operators forcing them to burn waste for decades to come instead of tackling the issue head on.
Film: The Dressmaker, Film4, 11.30pm
In 1950s Australia, a fashion designer returns to her remote home town after forging a successful career in Paris. She reconciles with her mother, falls in love and transforms the lives of the local women – getting even with her enemies in the process. Imaginative, funny, colourful and unforgettable drama based on the novel by Rosalie Ham, starring Kate Winslet (above), Judy Davis, Hugo Weaving and Liam Hemsworth.
Quiz: Only Connect, BBC2, 8pm
The brilliant Victoria Coren Mitchell (right) presents the first semifinal of the ultra-tough quiz as two teams try to guess the tricky and puzzling connections between things that seem utterly random at first glance, with one set of clues asking what completes the sequence of Vijfhuizen: Houses, Sichuan: Rivers, and Tripoli: Cities. Tricky stuff with a hard missing vowels section at the end likely to be pivotal as to who goes through and who goes out.
