PICKS OF THE DAY

-

Drama: Unforgotten, ITV, 9pm

It’s episode four in the latest incarnation of this gripping but grisly series as detectives Cassie and Sunny discover Walsh was chased by all four suspects on the night in question. Willets realises the blood sample from Fiona (Liz White, left) may have been deliberately lost. Meanwhile, the pathologist identifies a cause of death implying Walsh was murdered. Murder mystery starring Nicola Walker, Sanjeev Bhaskar and Andy Nyman still delivers plenty of shocks and scares.

Soap: Coronation Street, ITV, 7.30pm/8.30pm

When Imran (Charlie De Melo, above left) reveals that he and Toyah are foster parents, Kelly (Millie Gibson, (above right) suggests she could stay with them. Kelly later announces that she doesn’t want to go back home to her foster parents. Elsewhere, Leanne takes action after Harvey threatens to put her and Simon in hospital unless he gets all his money. Meanwhile, Alina enjoys the attention when Tyrone flirts with her.

Film: Ride Along 2, Film4, 7.05pm

In this comedy sequel to the surprise 2014 hit, Ice Cube’s grizzled detective James takes his soon-to-be brotherin-law Ben (Kevin Hart, left with Ice Cube) – now a rookie cop – to Miami on the hunt for a drugs kingpin. Aside from a couple of amusing action scenes and some romantic intrigue for James (in the shape of Olivia Munn), this follow-up stays close to the first film’s plot, with the talented leads – joined by The Hangover’s Ken Jeong – left scrambling to put together something new. With a stream of ridicule directed at his co-star, Ice Cube seems to be enjoying himself as the glaring straight man. Directed by Tim Story, who seems happy to deliver another buddy cop sequel.

Food: Jamie: Keep Cooking Family Favourites, C4, 8.30pm Jamie Oliver takes inspiration from France for a fresh way to cook a roast chicken, adorning it with smoked bacon and fresh tarragon, served on a bed of garlicky spinach lentils rippled with crème fraîche. He also shares some easy ways to use up stale bread, to make it the hero of any dish. Joined by his friend and mentor Gennaro Contaldo (above left), Jamie cooks up a surprising take on a classic prawn linguine.

Documentary: Dispatches, C4, 8pm

In the latest instalment of the investigative show, Dispatches reports from Bradford, West Yorkshire, one of the UK’s worst-hit communities during the coronavirus pandemic. It’s predicted that up to half a million people in the United Kingdom are now living with long Covid. Dispatches asks if the NHS will be able to cope with the lasting health legacy of the deadly virus. Narrated by Fatima Manji and featuring experts including respiratory consultant Dr Paul Whitaker (right).
