TUCHEL BRAIN WASH IS OK BY ME

- By Matthew Dunn

ANDREAS CHRISTENSEN has revealed the remarkable levels of detail that Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has used to turn around the club.

The Blues are back in contention for a top-four finish and today face Atletico with a first-leg lead and a place in the Champions League quarter-finals up for grabs.

And the German has not been mincing his words in a bid to make sure his orders are clear to even his most senior players.

“It’s just being very, very clear in what they want and if they want something different they’re just going to let you know,” Christensen told the club’s programme.

“They’re not beating around the bush – they know how they want it, there’s a plan. Even what we do in training – the

exercises and stuff – you might not feel it, but in your subconscious the message is coming through. It’s a weird thing, but it just works.

“We are developing habits, probably without even knowing it’s happening. The reason we’ve been solid is that we’ve been working hard as a team, with a high press and sometimes suffering together.

“It’s a good feeling and I don’t think we’re done yet.”

ARSENE Wenger has called on football bosses to stage the World Cup every two years.

The former Arsenal manager says it would give more players the chance to win the game’s biggest prize.

Wenger told beIN Sports: “If you look at the teams in the World Cup, usually the average age is 27/28. Because the

World Cup is every four years there are very few chances to win it again.

“Maybe we should organise the World Cup every two years, the European Championship every two years and kick the rest out. Organise only competitions of meaning and kick all the parallel competitions out of the game. People must understand what is at stake and only have games with meaning.”

Wenger, right, who said he turned down the England job three times, also wants the football calendar overhauled, with domestic seasons running from March to November. “To harmonise the world calendar, somebody has to give in. It would make things more simple.”

And he said that Gareth Southgate should pick Jack Grealish when the Euros start this summer.

Wenger said: “Grealish can dribble, go slow, quick, take people on, with good vision for the final ball.”
