Starry nights keep Ringo looking good

RINGO Starr says late nights mixed with a healthy diet are why he looks so good at 80.

The Beatle wowed viewers of the Grammys earlier this week when he turned up to give Billie Eilish and brother Finneas their Record of the Year award.

Ringo said he had loved all the compliment­s he received about his looks.

He told Zoe Ball on Radio 2 yesterday: “At my age I just get up in the morning and this is what you get.

“I tend to work out and keep as busy as I can.

“I’m a vegetarian, I eat lots of berries, lots of fruit and lots of vegetables and salad.”

But the Liverpool-born superstar, who has lived permanentl­y in Los Angeles with wife Barbara Bach, 73, since 2014, said he had not got rid of all his rock‘n’roll ways.

Remaining a night owl he said: “I don’t like to bed before midnight.”

Ringo releases a new EP, Zoom In, today as well as a book, Ringo Rocks: 30 Years of the All Starrs 1989-2019.

However, he will not be recording any more albums. He said: “I felt I’m not going to make any more complete CDs. EPs were on my brain.”

also said he has had a look at rushes from the upcoming documentar­y Get Back, being made by Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson.

It uses 56 hours of unseen footage of The Beatles shot back in 1969.

The film shows the Fab Four working on their 12th and final studio album Let It Be, which was released

in 1970, a month after group’s break-up.

Ringo said: “Pete has shown me some great footage that’s going to be in it.

“I promise you, you’re going to love it.

“We were laughing, you know, the band were having fun! We were making music, which was very serious to all of us.”
