2 Côtes du Rhône White, Taste the Difference (£8, 12.5%)

This simple yet stunning white is a blend of grenache, bourboulen­c, roussanne, viognier and clairette grapes, combined to create a refreshing and fullflavou­red wine. Flavours of green apple and pear jostle with floral notes. Available from Sainsbury’s.

3 La Grange St Martin Côtes du Rhône (£7.75, 13%)

Exclusivel­y produced for the Co-op by Chateau Beaucastel, La Grange Saint Martin Reserve is a delicious combinatio­n of grenache and syrah, rich and full-bodied with a palate of black cherry, cassis and violets, plus hints of pepper and spices. Available from the Co-op.

4 Côtes du Rhône Rouge M. Chapoutier 2019 (£11.99, 14.5%)

Fruity and deliciousl­y light, this Côtes du Rhône from the famed Chapoutier stable is as light and fruity as you’d expect with black cherries and a herby kick. Very moreish. Available from Majestic.

5 Vinsobres Cru des Côtes du Rhône (£8.50, 15%)

The region’s highest level of quality (Vinsobres is one of only 17 Rhône villages allowed to use the appellatio­n), this red Cru is perfect for a special occasion. Rich, full-bodied and bursting with fruit flavours and a touch of spice, it’ll knock your socks off. Available from Sainsbury’s.

6 Guigal Côtes du Rhône Rosé 2015 (£12.75, 13.5%)

This fantastic northern Rhône rosé is well worth a few pounds more. Primarily grenache and cinsault with smaller proportion­s of mourvèdre and syrah, it’s a stunning pink in colour, relatively dry and faintly acidic with flavours of red fruits and citrus. Available from 99wines.co.uk
