Emily: I get 100s of sexually abusive messages every day

- By Mark Jefferies

EMILY Atack says she receives hundreds of sexually abusive online messages every day – leaving her scared to live alone.

And the actor and comedian says nothing is done because it happens on social media.

She said: “The online abuse and the sexual harassment is just completely out of control.

“For some reason there is this blind spot where you don’t receive any consequence at all.

“On a daily basis I receive hundreds – it is hundreds – of messages.

“The other day, before 10am, I had seen three penises that I hadn’t asked to see.

“And I hate to admit it, I have become so used to it I just go ‘oh God, for f **** sake’.”

In the video interview with Unilad, 31-year-old Emily, who found fame as Charlotte Hinchcliffe in The Inbetweeners, said she looked at the profile of the type men who send her the messages.

She found it was everything from teenagers to “lonely old men and men with four children who have their family in their profile”.

She added: “They are allowed to do it and I am subjected to it.

“It does make me feel scared to live on my own.

“People have said things like they know I am home alone or know what colour my cushions are.”

Emily also says a man on a bike sexually harassed her in the street recently and social media “is like the guy on the bike in my ear the whole time”.

She added: “It starts to chip away at you, it does.”

Emily also told how she feels pressure to look a certain way – and even if she loses a few pounds, trolls brand her “fat”.

“I feel a pressure to look a certain way every single day.

“I think about my weight 95 per cent of the day,” she said.
