House of fun keeps Rodgers and Foxes smiling
BRENDAN RODGERS has spilled the beans on why life is just tons of fun at Leicester. Rodgers celebrates his 100th game in charge in the FA Cup quarter-final clash with Manchester United tomorrow.
It is just over two years since he walked through the door and HAPPY: Rodgers is relishing his work in that period only Manchester City and Liverpool have won more Premier League matches than the Foxes.
He has clocked up a win-rate of 52.5 per cent and sees his side fighting for a Champions League place in third place and hoping to move into the FA Cup semi-finals.
The 48-year-old says it is not madness that he tries to make life – and football – the House of Fun. Rodgers said: “Being happy is what it’s all about. What makes me happy is helping make other people happy.
“I’ve got a great joy just coming in here every day. It’s an incredible work environment.
“It’s not about pampering players – it’s about creating a standard and giving yourself a mindset that can improve your footballing and family life.”
In among the smiles is a squad of players who Rodgers believes are seriously good enough to keep causing ripples among the game’s recognised big hitters.
He said: “I still think there’s a way to go but as time progresses these players are getting that belief that they can keep disrupting that so-called top six.”
Leicester will be without James Maddison, but Rodgers added: “He’s looking good in training. Hopefully, he will have a good couple of weeks during the international break and could be close by the time we get back.”
