- By Cyril Dixon

A GRIEVING couple hugged each other for support yesterday as they paid tribute to their twoweek-old son killed in a hit-andrun crash.

Tiny Ciaran Leigh Morris died when his pram was hit by an allegedly untaxed BMW 1 Series which mounted the pavement and shunted into a shuttered shop.

Cameron Morris and Codie Holyman are believed to have witnessed their newborn’s death on one of their first outings together.

Yesterday, the 18-year-old parents spent an hour at the scene in Brownhills, West Midlands, reading cards and floral tributes and clutching one of their son’s cuddly toys before leaving their own goodbye message.

In a heartrending tribute to the premature baby they wrote: “Fly high Ciaran. You didn’t deserve this. Wish we could bring you home to us.

“Sleep tight, rest easy our baby boy. Love Mommy and Daddy.”

In a statement they said their “hearts will always ache, we love you more than anything. We didn’t get to keep you for long but we are happy we had the chance to meet you, look after you and call you our son. Fly high angel.”

Last night,West Midlands Police charged James Paul Davis, 34, with causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by driving while uninsured, failing to stop at the scene of a collision and failure to report a collision.

Davis, from Walsall, was due to appear at Wolverhampton magistrates’ court this morning.

Sergeant Mark Crozier, from the force’s serious collision investigation unit, said: “To see the loss of someone so young is difficult for us as officers, but we know the pain is even greater for the family.

“We’ll be doing all we can to support them while also trying to establish what happened leading to the collision.”

Ciaran suffered fatal injuries near a parade of shops when the BMW trapped his buggy after colliding with a Ford B-Max.

Witnesses said his parents and other family members were hysterical. He died later after being airlifted to hospital.

The car’s driver is fleeing on foot.

Police want witnesses, especially drivers with dashcam footage.

The BMW’s passenger as well as the people in the Ford were helping officers with their inquiries.

An online fundraiser for the boy’s family had raised more than £6,300 last night. accused of
