Popular picnic spots
SUNSHINE, snow, hail – we’ve had just about every combination over Easter but with school holidays still on and the chance of going on a staycation from Monday, a little bit of weather isn’t going to stop us enjoying the great outdoors. We’ve prepared for rule-of-six garden get-togethers by investing in firepits and outdoor heaters – demand is up 594 per cent and 581 per cent says eBay.
But now it’s time for picnic essentials that can be used when you’re out and about for the day or on holiday, as well as eating alfresco at home.
Searches for picnic blankets are up 223 per cent, says eBay, but for a really comfy picnic you’ll need waterproof cushions and perhaps even a waterproof patio rug, which you can use at home or at your favourite beauty spot.
Argos has reported soaring sales of gazebos – up by as much as 200 per cent – but if you’re thinking of joining the rush consider one that’s not only robust but fits back into its bag.
Shelters by outdoor equipment expert Coleman include FastPitch Event Shelter M, properly waterproof not just showerproof, which takes five to 10 minutes to set up and has sturdy steel poles, plus you can buy add-on panels for the sides.
“Our shelters are a great choice for those planning garden parties, picnics or camping trips once restrictions ease,” says UK senior marketing manager Chris Stuckey.
And with a UV guard of SPF50, they’ll not only protect you from late spring showers but also hot summer sun.
