MAN CITY WIN 4-2 ON AGGREGATE

MANCHESTER CITY kept their Quadruple hopes alive after overcoming their Champions League quarter-final hoodoo.

Victory over Borussia Dortmund was secured by a nerveless penalty from Riyad Mahrez and a bullet strike from Phil Foden. Their goals cancelled out an early stunner from teenage star Jude Bellingham to give City a 4-2 aggregate lead.

City have fallen at the quarter-final stage in each of Pep Guardiola’s past three seasons. But the win ensured a last-four appearance for only the second time in their history, setting up a clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

ROME has been confirmed as the ninth definite Euro 2020 host city.

The Italian capital, which will stage the opening match of the delayed finals on June 11, did not provide a minimum capacity guarantee to UEFA by the initial April 7 deadline.

But European football’s governing body confirmed yesterday the Stadio Olimpico would be at a minimum 25 percent capacity for its four matches – three group games and a quarter-final. UEFA are determined to safely welcome as many fans into venues as possible despite Covid infection rates remaining high across Europe.

UEFA are awaiting more information from Dublin, Bilbao and Munich.

Dublin and Bilbao appear most likely to lose matches if they are unable to guarantee access to any spectators by Monday.

The English FA have indicated they are ready to host extra games if required.
